More about our Speaker, Gareth Morgan
You may know Gareth Morgan as an Economist or as an astute investor into son Sam’s TradeMe business. You may remember Gareth as the controversial regular guest on Ralston Live or have heard his bike stories from the Silk Road on Paul Holmes’ breakfast show. You may have read his latest book “Pension Panic”, or followed his investment advice. You might not know that Gareth was born with a cleft. Come and hear Gareth speak and you may learn even more about this unconventional and fascinating person.

Don Oliver (United Way CEO) together with Mayor Bob Harvey (Waitakere City Council) presented the Cleft Lip & Palate Support Group with a grant of $4,000.00 at a Grant Allocations Reception on 27th June 2006.

This grant will be used to update and redevelop our core information service for parents – the ‘Blue Book’.

Funding is difficult to secure, especially for core operating expenses. United Way investment strategy focuses on supporting smaller charities who are providing essential services in the community. In our case we are fortunate to be working in some of United Way’s priority areas of strengthening and supporting families and promoting health and independence.
