BLUE BOOK 2006 EDITION
Posted on January 31st, 2007What is new about the 2006 Edition of the Blue Book?
But first the Support Group would like to thank all those that made the redevelopment of the Blue Book possible:
- Medical staff at Auckland, Waikato, Hutt and Christchurch Hospitals.
- Specialists in associated fields such as Genetics (Salim Aftimos) and Radiograhy (Richard Davis)
- Sponsors who supported us financially and with expertise to produce the finished article:
- United Way New Zealand and APN Print.
- Paragon Design and Medical Illustrator Diane Mercer
Also to those families and young cleft people who shared their stories and photos to support others. Thank you all.
We have focussed on three main aspects in this edition of the Blue Book.
- National feel to the book. We have involved professionals from all the cleft teams around New Zealand to contribute to this book. This shows families that the level of care in New Zealand is not dependent on where you live and give specific information relevant to where your child will receive their cleft care.
- Interactive section to the book. We have turned the front of the Blue Book into a “plunket” style book for cleft. It will allow families to have one place to collect all the information about their child’s specific care plans. It covers all aspects of care from dental, surgery, monitoring hearing, through to Speech and Language Development. It aims to increase the average level of involvement that families can contribute to their child’s care team.
- New section for your young cleft adult. This has been written by three young adults that were born with cleft. Zoe Johnston, Kenny Ardouin and Alice Collins. Their stories are inspirational and meant to provide hope, inspiration and knowledge that having a cleft doesn’t mean you are isolated or that your options are limited in any way.
