For our kids - your perspective please

Posted on June 14th, 2007

Can you say yes to these?

  • Are you between 14-25 years of age?
  • Have you experienced a hospital stay in the adult department?
  • Do you have views on hospital stays that you would like to share?

We need your perspective on how your final surgeries for repairing your cleft could be delivered.

The transition between being a child and becoming an adult can be a difficult one.  It is a time of change for you the child, their parents and the hospital staff looking after them.  Currently when you reach a particular age (about 16 years) you are no longer treated in the children’s ward, but are treated in the adults ward.  KidzFirst is looking at this area to see how best to deliver the services for young adults who don’t quite fit into either category.

As a Support Group, we are able to present ideas from those who really have opinions - the kids themselves.  If you would like to contribute please contact us.

LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK - YOU COULD SHAPE THE WAY IT HAPPENS FOR OTHERS AND FOR YOURSELF IN THE FUTURE
