Thanks to all those who could see themselves in print

Posted on July 26th, 2006

When a baby is born with a cleft there is a range of feelings, worries and concerns. Grief in all its forms is about loss. You lose the dream of the child and experiences you thought you were going to have, along with the hopes and plans for your family and child that matched that picture. Stressful situations evoke all manners of normal reactions, as a family of a child with a cleft we choose how we respond.

All of us have questions and turn to resources such as the Blue Book to help us make sense of this new situation we find our family in. We are updating the Blue Book. Thanks to those families that responded to our request for help. Our cut off date has past and we are now working on the final design of the new Blue Book.

So to all those families who:

  • Shared a positive story
  • Shared your personal life journey
  • Shared images of your child with a cleft
  • Thank you - we appreciate it and know other families will benefit from this contribution.

We are aiming at launching the new edition of the Blue Book in December 2006. It should be a great event. More details to follow.
