Techniques for improving Speech development

Posted on June 30th, 2009
  • Looking for some more ideas to support your young child or student with speech and language development issues?
  • Missed the presentation by Anne Harding-Bell, Specialist SLT at the Cleft Unit at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, England?

Don’t worry - we can send you the information.

Anne’s presentation talked about Phonological Principles (ways consonants are arranged to make meaning) and the work she has done in developing new approaches to therapy for children born with cleft or experiencing VPI speech issues.

In particular she explained how muti-sensory (sight, sound, touch) Input -modelling can be beneficial to the early speech and language development of children.  She also looked at speech production patterns that some children born with cleft have and how we can understand their development process more fully.

If you are interested we have:

  • A DVD of Anne’s presentation
  • Accompanying notes
  • Summary of important take out points for parents.

Please ring us for your copy of this very interesting and hope filled information.  This is relevant for both caregivers and community SLTs.  Postage and handling of $5 is the nominal charge.
